Chief Advancement Officer

General Description 

The primary function of the LCS Advancement Office is to promote the mission, vision and guiding principles of the school by ensuring an excellent future of the institution. The Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) will oversee all functions which serve to advance the school, including financial and community development, strategic planning and management, marketing and communications. The CAO will also serve as the Administrative liaison to the Advancement Committee of the Board of Directors. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Marketing or Nonprofit Leadership
  • Five years fundraising experience or equivalent experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

1. Financial Development: 

  • Coordination and oversight of all efforts to generate private and public support for Lakeland Christian School.
  • Representation of the school by educating giving constituencies regarding Biblical principles of stewardship. 
  • Planning for and execution of all capital campaigns to support specific school capital projects. 
  • Coordination and oversight of the school’s Viking Fund annual giving campaign. 
  • Coordination and oversight of fundraising for Financial Aid, Gateway Fund, Discovery Program Financial Aid, and the Families in Crisis Fund. 
  • Oversight of all fundraising efforts initiated by school entities. 
  • Development and maintenance of solicitation policies and procedures by and for any school entity. 
  • Promotion of Planned Giving vehicles to appropriate candidates. 
  • Pursuit of all appropriate grant funding avenues. 
  • The growth of the school endowment. 
  • Recruitment, inspiration and training of Board members and other volunteers to assist in all appropriate development efforts. 
  • Oversight of all financial partner appreciation and recognition efforts. 
  • The cultivation and care of relationships with school families, financial partners, alumni, and local civic leadership. 
  • Supervisory oversight of the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Associate Director of Advancement, and associated staff. 

2. Strategic Planning and Management:

  • Work with the Administrative team to develop and continually review the schools’ comprehensive Master Plan. 
  • Serve as a member of the Leadership Team to determine specific usage of school facilities to develop potential new revenue streams. 
  • Work with Administration and staff to explore potential new school service areas. 
  • Development and execution of the funding plan to support both long and short-term capital projects and the growth of the school endowment. 

3. Marketing and Community Relations:

  • Supervise the development of overall strategic marketing plans to expose the school to prospective mission appropriate families and to maintain, broaden, and enhance the schools’ positive, constructive presence and reputation in the community at large. 
  • Supervise the development and implementation of plans for effective marketing of the school to internal publics, such as families, faculty, staff, students and ministry partners. 
  • Supervise the Development and implementation of plans for effective marketing of the school to external publics, such as prospective families, relatives, potential ministry partners, local churches, Alumni and civic/cultural leaders. 
  • Supervising the development and implementation of branding of the school in every respect across every department; from apparel, to signage, to website and social media, to letterhead, e-mails, specialty items, and internal marketing. 
  • Oversee the submission of all informational releases to news media outlets, as well as postings on social media. 
  • Pursue opportunities for positive publicity via appropriate media outlets. 
  • Oversee on-going guest relations training for faculty and staff. 
  • Actively communicate the necessity of a team approach to the advancement function at LCS. 
  • Oversee efforts to develop and maintain an organized Alumni association, to encourage their involvement in multiple school functions and activities, and to encourage giving. 
  • Appropriately use other major school functions, such as the Christmas musical, and Commencement week activities to effectively promote the virtues of the Christian school experience. 

4. Communication: 

  • Provide editorial oversight and assistance to all school publications, brochures and flyers. 
  • Conduct a review of the purpose, format, content and frequency of the Engage magazine. 
  • Review school signage for professionalism and clarity. 
  • Oversee ongoing communications with all school constituency groups, through all media. 
  • Oversee creation and placement of advertising in local media and other appropriate opportunities. 
  • Oversee all website design and content, and the routine maintenance of this content to maintain its accuracy.

Middle School Math Teacher – Part Time 

General Description

Lakeland Christian School seeks a Middle School Math faculty member, committed to “sharpening minds and shepherding hearts.” The ideal candidate should be able to masterfully teach up to four sections of Math 7 and Pre-Algebra and potentially grow into a Full-time position with the school’s growth. Upper School History Teacher

General Description

A Lakeland Christian School teacher is committed to sharpening minds and shepherding hearts of their students. This role requires a commitment to academic excellence, a passion for discipleship and student life, with a focus on equipping students for a lifetime of learning, leadership, service and worship.

Specific Role Description

We seek a content expert in two or more areas of History within our curriculum: American, Ancient World, Modern World/European. Full-time faculty members in the High School teach 6 sections with two prep periods. Full-time faculty in the Middle School teach 5 sections and lead an advisory period (pre-prepared) with two prep periods. Class periods are 45 minutes in length. Ideal candidates would be thought leaders for the department with strong content knowledge and with the ability to teach using multiple modalities in up to 3 courses. The ability to use direct instruction with expertise while winsomely explaining concepts and themes from history in a biblical worldview is critical to the roles. Candidates with experience teaching AP and/or Dual Enrollment courses would be preferred but not required. Currently our department offers three AP courses. We also offer three Dual Enrollment courses through Cedarville University.

Also critical to this role is the ability to contribute to the overall campus life of Upper School students. Opportunities exist in athletics, chapel talks and worship, bible studies, fine arts, and advisory. For the 24-25 school year, all faculty in History will execute unit planning in the model of Understanding by Design by McTighe and Wiggins. Significant training will be offered to all faculty during in-service and pre-service.

Upper School Master Science Teacher and STEM Lead

General Description

The RISE Institute (Research, Innovation, STEM and Entrepreneurship) and science program at Lakeland Christian School are seeking an experienced teacher and coach to join our faculty in some combination of the physical, earth, and engineering sciences. Experience with and vision for First Tech Challenge Robotics is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a sharpening the minds and shepherding the hearts of middle and high schoolers in the context of a can-do, “how might we…” student-centric, learning environment. Working directly with the Director of the RISE Institute and the Director of Academics, the ideal candidate will have the opportunity to lead the cultivation of a robust STEM program, preparing LCS students to pursue God ordained callings in the science, technology, engineering, and applied mathematics.

Qualifications

Accounts Payable Specialist

General Description The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for the oversight of school expenditures. He/she reports to and is evaluated by the Controller. The Accounts Payable Specialist must be able to work independently and be able to interact with parents, administration, faculty and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Receive, review, and process all invoices and check requests.
  2. Submit all invoices to the Controller to initial for payment approval.
  3. Process payments (checks, electronic transactions, etc.) in a timely manner.
  4. Run accounts payable reporting. This includes vendor activity, approved invoices to pay, historical vendor records, and other reports as requested by the business office.
  5. Handle incoming calls from vendors regarding payments.
  6. Track and manage vendor W-9’s to run year-end 1099’s.
  7. Support organizational purchasing through maintaining vendor purchasing accounts, assisting with purchase orders, and managing Amazon and wholesale accounts.
  8. Support business office functions and act as a backup for payroll and student billing.
  9. Manage school-owned credit cards by organizing and collecting receipts for monthly statements and entering data into accounting program and scheduling online payments by due date.
  10. Organize all bus driver’s medical paperwork for CDL license.
  11. Complete other tasks as assigned by the Controller and Chief Financial Officer.

Accounting Specialist

General Description: The Accounting Specialist is responsible for the administration of the School’s financial aid process, state scholarships, and monthly accounting functions. In addition, this person will provide data management support and periodic reporting to key stakeholders across school segments to enhance decision making. Substitute teachers play an important role at Lakeland Christian School. When a teacher is ill or away from his/her students due to a professional obligation elsewhere, it is imperative that the school make every effort to keep instruction moving forward in spite of the teacher’s absence. Substitute Teacher Applications are processed throughout the school year when there is a need to add to the current pool of available substitutes. A processing fee of $75 is required to cover the cost of background screening and drug testing, which are required for employment.
